Would you like to understand what people mean when they refer to a job in data science? Do you want to pursue a data science career, but not sure where to learn the skills needed to get your foot in the door? If so, then join us for the first workshop of Data Science month!

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  1. Name the variety of careers in this work sector
  2. Name the entry points into a career working in data science
  3. Develop a strategy for positioning yourself for your next step, whether as a career explorer or someone ready to apply for data science positions
  4. Identify resources you can utilize to gain the skills needs for data science careers

We'll be joined by representatives from the Insight Data Science Fellows Program, and the UCSF Data Science Intitative, all of whom will not only provide an overview of data science careers, but also of the programs they offer to students and postdocs.

Come to this session and leave with a little more information and the start of a plan! Whether you are just curious about the roles in data science or you are ready to apply for a job in data science, this is the session for you.
